Each holiday season, The Salvation Army engages in the tradition of "staffing the kettles" to promote the plight of the needy in the Roanoke Valley. This practice is critical to The Salvation Army's cause, as the money it raises supports the organization’s programs for the rest of the year. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of Roanoke Valley residents and businesses, The Salvation Army can continue to provide valuable programs such as Turning Point, the Red Shield Lodge and our Community Center and Afterschool Care Program.
